I recently was talking to another artist about a video that I watched on Instagram. It was this woman who talked about all these places to visit and I’m not sure if it was in CT or RI but I was enjoying seeing the great little coffee shop and fun mom and pop shops and then she announced how she even got a new piece of art for her apartment. Me hearing the word art, I got excited, who was the artist, which gallery? Then she announced ART made by a dolphin. UGH… my heart sunk, I can’t compete with art made by a dolphin, that’s ridiculous! Who can compete with artistic dolphins??? Truth is, I’m not even a really good swimmer, he would beat me at both!

I guess it really saddens me to think that people would call this art! I understand that art is a very big word that is full of different categories and we are all different and like different things. I know that my art is not for everyone. I guess I ask that when you buy art, support an artist, not a big box store, not a dolphin for that matter that doesn’t have to support himself.

What I’m trying to say in this post is buy ART! Buy ART from humans, made by humans! When you buy art from humans you help those humans stay in their dream jobs. Art is how we live and support ourselves. Art is how we pay our rent and how we stay in the same location when you want more of our art.
