Life as a Fulltime Artist!

These two fun robots are currently in an exhibit at Western Avenue Studios in the 4th floor mini gallery until October 6th.

Next exhibit piece is “Sew Be It!”. I made her specifically for the exhibit Solid Ground.

Solid Ground is to represent Western Avenue Studios historical building and amazing artistic community. The Singer sewing machine represents our historical building as it once was an industrial fabric company and the robot represents makers as she holds treads and her chest is a vintage yarn holder.

Solid Ground runs for September 28- November 21. Opening reception TBD

I have had a few weeks of busy building as you can imagine with all the exhibits.

I had a few minutes last Saturday to run to my favorite thrift store and scored some incredible papers! Here I am cutting out some beautiful knitting magazines on my porch while Boss Olli is like those aren’t robots, get back to work!!

I am working… work, work, work…LOL!

Recently I have sold a few of my Junk Journal Kits so I thought I would make a few more batches as I have had the bug to Junk Journal these days myself. I don’t know if you junk journal but it’s so much fun and what a great way to use up scrap paper, junk envelopes and so much more!

A little robot drawing has happened over the past couple weeks. I have not picked up a pencil to draw since college. Just not interested or not enough time to think of becoming interested. But this guy… LOVE!

I love having the freedom to choose what medium I feel like using on any day. As a creative person there is so many ways to express myself and to be unlimited is just a breath of fresh air!

If you are here for my robots, I thank you and yes I’m still making robots but I also am adding new things to my studio which I haven’t been able to do in a long while. I think since I sold vintage back in 2016! I always added some art pieces to my vintage… now I add vintage to my art.. Lol, I guess not much has changed or maybe everything has changed!

The Flat Stanley Collection was born over the past few weeks!! My floor mates have been asking for 2D work and so it has begun!! The bug and the dog are truly my favorites so far in this collection. Everyone wanted hallway robots so it’s was a difficult start but I think a good add on to my work and so for that I’m thankful! The artists on my floor at Western Avenue Studios challenge me to be a better artist daily! I’m so grateful to my art community and blessed to have been offered my studio space!

New robots are trickling in. Some Halloween for the spooky types!!

It’s kind of funny, I haven’t made any Halloween girls yet. Maybe this week! It’s an all boys house… just like home… For now Smead and his pet rat who hangs out on Smead’s head is available in the studio along with some Mini-Pumpkinheads and a few other pumpkin peeps!

Victor was born yesterday in a mad race to birth one robot! You all are first to see him. I feel like he might be whispering secrets… like the hidden treasure is two steps to your right or Sally was caught behind.. well we probably shouldn’t talk about that, that’s not nice! Besides the expression on his face he has part of a very old diary on his tummy…oh, the secrets he holds!

Any who… this is what I’ve been up too…give or take walking Olli boy!

Save that date!

October 4..next OPEN STUDIO, it’s going to be epic!
